Saint Maur International School Drama Department

About

The Saint Maur Drama Department helps students to gain the skills to be confident with public speaking and using their bodies and voices to tell stories. Lifelong skills of collaboration, creativity and critical thinking are fostered through participation in speech and drama, and can be applied to any career. An appreciation for theatre and storytelling is also a key aspect of drama education at Saint Maur.

Saint Maur offers drama as an academic subject in Grades 6 - 8, as well as the opportunity to continue at IGCSE level in Grades 9 and 10. In the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme at Grades 11 and 12, students can choose to study IB Literature and Performance, an interdisciplinary subject which integrates skills and understandings from both English literature and theatre.

There are also numerous opportunities to get involved in public speaking and drama through extra-curricular activities. The high school drama club mounts an annual production, alternating between musicals, comedies and dramatic material. The middle school drama club puts on a show every year as well. Students also have the opportunity to audition for nine different categories - ranging from humorous or dramatic to persuasive or informative - in the annual Kanto Plain Speech Contest.
